BROCOLLI CITY

The urban community has officially gone green. This new line, "Broccoli City" was created by 2 guys from North Carolina. The idea came from a inner passion to educate the communities in their city about the benefits of preserving our planets' energy and resources. This entire line is made of organic materials. The initial Launch only offered organic tees for men and women, but I'm sure we see an organic line of accessories this Spring/Summer. OVER THE WEEKEND

VA held a FULL THROTTLE FASHION SHOW downtown Norfolk over the weekend. Celebrities such as Miami's own, Trina was in attendance. I have posted a few of my favorite pieces from the show below. DRINK FASHIONABLY

Stars including Jamie Foxx, JayZ, John Mayer, and Rosario Dawson have been initiated into this very tasty trend. It has been on the scene for a while, but only granting access to our lovely celebrity types. This Asian spirit comes in 8 different varieties. I have yet to find my favorite, but believe me I'm working on it! Last year it was the trendy beverage, "NUVO". Rap Artists were flossing it around in their videos, and models were pouring it all over themselves. Personally, I think I will be on board that TY KU train this summer. WHAT I'M READING

I love going to the library and finding fun Fashion books to check out and read (yes I still go the library). I love it as much as I love driving to Starbucks on the weekends just to sit there and surf the Internet for hours. Its about the experience to me. I enjoy being in an environment where everyone is striving and craving for more knowledge. Its kind of soothing. This week I am in Barnes of Noble instead of SB. As I walk throughout the aisles I notice a book written by Clinton Kelly. You know this guy right? He has the hit T.V. show featuring non-fashionistas and their horrible sense of style. He travels with a female fashion stylist in which they raid the closets and give away credit cards to the poor souls in order to revamp their wardrobes. Anyway, he has written a very funny book called, "FREAKIN FABULOUS". How to dress, speak, behave, eat, entertain, decorate, and generally be better than everyone else. You thought you were fabulous? Read this book and you will get a serious reality check! It is a definite must read for the Spring.

RUFFLES

Does anyone own a ruffled dress yet? I see this style in every clothing store right now and I just cant bring myself to purchase one. Not because of the design, more out of fear of not knowing how it will flow with my curvy figure. It seems as though this style adds curves right? I stopped by www.elle.com to see if I could gain a little knowledge on this design. According to Elle you should pair it with ballet flats and tights/jeans to tone it down a bit. What if I'm going out with the girls? Should I pair it with a simple closed toe pump? Although this style is absolutely adorable I will have to sit this one out this Spring. WHAT TOOK SO LONG?

I'm sure this comes to no surprise people. Kanye West has finally teamed up with Louis Vuitton and designed a line of sneakers. He recently released a sneak peek to the public by featuring an all red pair during a Fashion Show in Paris. If you look closely you can see the new quilted flap feature which will make it easier for the fellas to keep their jeans tucked inside. Ridiculous? I say its brilliant! How many times have we seen this struggle to maintain Swag in the streets? Fellas are constantly lifting up their jeans in the back in hopes of keeping that "tucked in rock star" image. Now, you can tuck your jeans with confidence! LOL! Kanye's line is expected to hit LV stores in June. I have yet to see the price listing for these, so I'm assuming they will be marked "upon request".

GOLDEN

My favorite 2008 Fashionista Rhianna was spotted hanging out on the red carpet at the Feeding America event in DC over the Inaugural Weekend. Say what you want about Miss Thang, her style is out of this world! I watched her do her thing for the entire year of 2008. I cant wait to see what her stylist has up her sleeve for the 2009 New Year. It would seem humanly impossible to hate this look, but I must ask.....are you feeling this? If not, feel free to lose this blog address your no longer welcome here!!! (just kidding :-)

OBAMA AND VOGUE

Since the campaign began Fashionistas around the globe have been extremely impressed by Michelle's non traditional wardrobe choices. Bright colors, fitted skirts, and sleeveless tops to name a few. So it shouldn't be shocking to hear news of Vogue Magazine requesting Michelle for the cover. I cant wait to see the ensembles created for this lovely goddess. Trust, as soon as I get word of the photo shoot leak, I will post for all to see! Stay Tuned!

ACID WASH

This particular trend dropped about 5 months ago when A.Keys decided to rock a pair during her visit on 106&PARK and Rhianna went the safe route and chose a jacket instead. Personally, I'm feeling this one guys. I know its a little risky being that it is 2009 and not 1984, but I feel drawn to this one. I am surprised I haven't seen anyone wearing these yet. Then again, I haven't seen them in any department stores. I tried looking for them in thrift shops, but by the time you spend money altering them, you could have bought a brand new pair (maybe two). DESIGNING WITH LEANNE

Leanne Marshall is the latest winner from Project Runway. She grew up like your typical nerd in high school. She looked weird, dressed weird, and pretty much stayed to herself. She recently had an interview with ELLE Mag, and spoke about the baggy skater pants and "old man" shirts she wore daily throughout the halls of her high school. She was the kid that stood out from the crowd and believed enough in herself to not give a crap. Being normal is nothing to strive for. Its the abnormality that creates today's top fashion designers. Aside from her present fame, the girl's line is SICK! The detailing of each garment is out of this world! Feel free to browse her site for the entire collection.

MICHAEL ANTONIO

When I think of my dream shoe collection this upcoming season, I think of Mr. Michael Antonio. I sort of stumbled upon this designer last year while building my Fall/Winter shoe collection. After months of shopping, I noticed one day that my closet was filled with these really chic pink and black shoe boxes. Each shoe from this color coded box in my closet, quickly became my favorites. I was subconsciously paying this guy's auto insurance monthly without realizing it( I mentioned auto insurance instead of mortgage because regardless of the complex designs, his line is extremely inexpensive). If you are looking to stand out on a serious budget, look no further! This line definitely has my stamp of approval. Enjoy!

ALLERGIC TO LATEX

I was so excited when these babies hit the market in 08. If you know me, you know that I adore the Punk Era. I didnt rush out and grab the trendy latex out of fear of looking like Rhianna, so I decided to sit this one out (thank God). This trend quickly became a "must have" item for the Fall. According to the streets, if you dont own a pair your not HOT. Well, I'm here to let everyone know that ITS OVER! Yep, this trend account has been closed due to a tremendous amount of overdrafts. Dont be discouraged, luckily for you, Fashion repeats itself. This trend will be back on the runways in about 5 years, so hold on to them and cross your fingers!

NEW YEAR

Hello my fellow Fashion folks. I thought long and hard about restarting my fashion blog this year. I had faith that my fellow Americans will be able to survive the upcoming fashion season with no assistance. Man, was I wrong!
