I came across this video this morning via MTV. Solange Knowles has decided to follow in her sister's footsteps. I wasn't a big fan of the song, but the wardrobe for this video was amazing!!! J&R MUSIC FESTIVAL

Solange Knowles performed yesterday in NYC at the J&R Music Festival. Of course Beyonce arrived to show support for her little sister. Her style has been lacking lately. Is she rocking the “stay at home wife” look? Not quite sure whats going on here, but as a fellow Virgo…I don’t like it! Solange on the other hand, surprised me. The thick RUN DMC necklace is a bit much but I’m really feeling her fashion sense right now.

JESSICA

America’s sweetheart Jessica Simpson is featured in the September issue of ELLE magazine. She talks about the tabloids, rumors, the divorce, a controlling father, and being a successful young entrepreneur. Aside from all of the drama in her life, Jessica managed to bless us with a very affordable shoe collection. She continues to take over the world by adding classic handbags, outerwear, and eye wear to her collection. I have added a few of my favorite things.

D. Woods of Danity Kane hit up the TRL studio in NYC. I think I understand where she is trying to go with this one. She wants to be unique and trendy. Unfortunately, I cant give her a pass on this ensemble. There are so many things wrong with this picture, I don't know where to begin. I'll allow you guys to be the judge. Fashion friendly or fashion disaster?

RIP CLUTCH......at least for now.

Once upon a time the clutch ruled the handbag world. Designers resurrected this lovely trend and delivered various sizes and designs to choose from. I have always been a fan of the clutch bag. I own just about every color known to man. This season we are doing away with the clutch and bringing back the mini bag. It has been a long time coming. It will be a challenge of course, going from your extremely over sized tote bag to a size that’s suitable for your 4 year old, but believe me it’s worth it!! According to UK VOGUE, the key is to match your cute little mini to your outfit (which goes against everything I believe in). Designers have promised to release a huge collection of different sizes and shades so you wont have to stress about finding that perfect color to match your dress. How does this lovely lady find the time? Between her album, interviews, and television appearances, Jennifer Hudson has managed to WOW us with her new fashion spread. The spread was shot by Atlanta’s own Derek Blanks. According to media sources and a very impressive lineup of celebrity clients, this talented guy is the new must have photographer. I am in love with this shoot. She is such a natural beauty.

Mrs. HOV (Beyonce) and Amerie were both spotted this week in Cali. I have always preached on this subject of being casual and sexy. Short dresses and low cut tops are not always needed to display massive sex appeal. Unfortunately, only the TRUE sexy individuals know this little secret! Nice work ladies!!!!

MIX and MATCH

I am sure everyone agrees when I say that I am extremely bored with my summer swimsuits. Even though summer is almost over, I still have one last pool party to attend this Friday. While searching the internet for a new funky suit, I came across Rhi Rhi sporting the exact same look I was shooting for. I’m a little pissed she got to it before me, but I’m not to proud to bite her style (just this once). This look is bold and very fashion friendly. No more matching that hideous swimsuit top with the very cute bottoms. This new bikini trend has officially arrived!

P.S. Does anyone know who her stylist is??? I’m going crazy over here trying to figure it out!

ROMPERS

Who said the romper was only for your 6 month old? The romper is making a serious comeback! I suggest pairing your romper with a pair of tights to keep warm during the cooler months. If the color is solid (black, blue, etc). Feel free to spice it up by choosing a printed pattern for your leg wear. I actually bought a pair of rompers last summer, and I absolutely loved the look. You want to keep your look somewhat baggy and mid thigh in length. This is a very casual style, but you can always dress it up with a pair of fabulous heels for a night on the town or trendy happy hour.

INNER CHILD

I am not sure whats going on with this new fashion trend, so I decided to post it in hopes of getting a little help on this one. Apparently, the new "hotness" seems to be Mickey and other childhood cartoon characters. As you can see celebrities Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child and Rhianna have decided to participate. Its really hard for me to find fault in Rhianna's stylist. I'm in love with her and I don't even know the lady (maybe its a guy...oops!). The look is different, no doubt... but would you wear Mickey out on the town? Or would he be restricted to daily errands and cheesy department stores only? It works for Rhianna, but could it work for you?

Ms. Good was spotted in Hollywood celebrating her bday looking rather lovely over the weekend. Even though this is her third time spotted with leopard print heels, she has been quite fashion friendly lately. I may have chosen a an odd color over the gold, but it is her bday so I understand if she wanted to over do it. Very nice.

HIGH WASTE!

I felt it was time to address this fashion issue that we seem to be having this season. For the record, this high waist trend hit the scene last spring. Although I had made plans to participate in this one, something came up and plans were cancelled (thank God). This new epidemic appears to be a free diva pass to non-fashionistas everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I loved this look about 14 months ago. Now, I just want to confront every female that I see and simply ask why??? If you choose to ignore this message, at least get the ground rules. First, don't attempt to rock this look if you haven't seen a gym in over 4 weeks. Second, only jeans and pencil skirts are allowed! No shorts or capris please! Finally, if you bought this trend days prior to this message you get a free pass. If you already have this trend and your itching to sport this look again....don't even think about it! Of course all of this fussing is with love. I hate to see my sisters become fashion slaves by wearing what you see on everyone else. If you want to be trendy stay current. To be stylish you must do the homework!

POLITICAL FASHION?

Lauren London showed her Obama support rockin a very trendy shirt during the 3rd day of the 12th annual American Black Film Festival in LA recently. As a young voter, I have also been tempted to show my Obama support this season. I dont usually wear my vote via my wardrobe, but these shirts are getting cuter and cuter by the moment.

OVER THE WEEKEND

ATL

The third annual So So Def Summerfest kicked off this weekend in Atlanta. It was hosted by none other than Atlanta-based music mogul Jermaine Dupri.

The guest list included Diddy, actress Sanaa Lathan, actress Nia Long, actress Gabrielle Union, and many more. The wardrobes were not as hot as I had expected. Kudos to Gabrielle(at least) for the black and white mini dress, but if I see one more black, white, and red ensemble…..I’m going to scream!!!

Kelis was spotted in Hollywood this weekend at Tony Hawk’s T-Mobile SideKick LX party. She has always been criticized about her extreme sense of fashion. Believe it or not, the only problem I have with this look is the handbag. Yes, it is a little weird but it works!

WAYNE'S DEBUT

As if selling more than one million records in a weekend wasn’t enough? The best rapper alive (like the best on earth according to media sources) has decided to join the Celebrity “I want to be a fashion designer” Club. With diamond cut skulls hanging form his jeans and more than one million dollars worth of jewelry in his mouth, its hard to picture this guy as a style icon. Don’t get me wrong, his album is in heavy rotation right now (I really like the track with Babyface), but I can’t seem to picture his face dominating the aisles of Neiman Marcus. The name FOREIGN MONEY was finally chosen for his debut. According to top fashion designers, Wayne’s line is the hottest line to look out for in fall 2008. We shall see about that!

C-BREEZY

Chris was spotted at the debut of remade Wrigley’s Gum jingles at the Nokia Theatre Tuesday night in NYC, rocking a couple of items from Pharrell’s clothing line ICE CREAM. I am really feeling the choice of bright colors on this trip. For a young man, his style is never too over the top. Just a nice classic Urban Trendsetter Swag.

Going Long…..

So soon? Just when I was having fun cutting inches off my entire collection of skirts! When you’re a fashion slave, you rarely have any choice in the matter. You bend over backwards to attain each and every look throughout the season, and then pay for it months later. Unfortunately, the long skirts this season are not my favorite. Every time I attempt this look, I end up with 2 decades added to my lifespan. It is impossible to give this trend a youthful and vibrant look. Most shades are dark, providing no room for spice. I would really like to give this one a chance but for now, I am almost positive I will be sitting this one out this season.

PURE GALACTIC

Sunday, I attended a Fashion Show at the Granby Theatre, Downtown Norfolk, VA. Beautiful gold and silver graced the stage as well as floral, vintage costumes, and lace! The creators go by the name of “Q&COMPANY”. A group of talented individuals dedicated to fashion excellence! By teaming up with clothing company “ECHOES OF TIME”, they managed to knock our socks off with space age ensembles and edgy vintage clothing.
